San Antonio-area high schools were put to the test for the 2017 school year.

Children at Risk, an educational research group, ranked 75 San Antonio-area high schools as a way to guide parents and "spark important community dialogue on the quality of public education in Texas."

The non-profit organization used letter grades in their list, which scored schools across the state. The San Antonio-area ranking includes: Bexar, Comal, Atascosa, Bandera, Guadalupe and Medina County.

Measures like indexes for student achievement, campus performance, growth and college readiness were taken into account to rate each school.

In 2015, George Gervin Academy was on the failing list with an F grade, ranking 1070 across the state and #56 in San Antonio.    Today, they impressively rank 397 in the state and 21 in San Antonio with an A- grade.
